There's a small padlock in the browser bar, and your customers read it fluently — even the ones who can't name it.

When the certificate is missing, the browser prints "Not secure" right next to your business name. The customer translates instantly: "don't leave your card details here."

Fixing it costs almost nothing and takes an afternoon. There are very few signals this cheap that do this much for trust — in either direction.
